Update: Hooked to the dock, updated maps now it boots. I suspect when I hook it back up on the dc plug it will blink again. I'm at home now so will update when I get back in the truck Monday morning. Being I've tried two different charging cords and two different 12v ports, it's probably the port on the 720, but I'll let you know.

My wife's 720 is doing the same thing. This is the 3rd unit that has had usb problems, 1-tnd700 and 2-tnd720's. I think the constant vibration at the port just wears it down. IMHO these units should have a separate charging port and separate usb port for hooking to pc.
As the tnd 730 is a newer and faster unit I don't know if it's worthwhile to fix the 720, maybe wait till RM offers a descent trade in option and get a new one.
I took my 720 apart to see if I could fix the usb port but it's hidden behind the main board and I don't have the tools to go to that extreme.
    Good luck with yours.

I posted a couple weeks ago about the tndt70 not routing me through 93 between Phoenix and kingman. Someone replied saying this is most likely due to a routing restriction.

So I was able to get it to route me through by changing my vehicle type to car. It will also route me through just fine if I set my vehicle type to bus, with a length of 72ft, 5 axels, 13'6 high, 8'6 wide. It also routed me through just fine. So it's not a height/length/width/weight issue, just a specific restriction against trucks at some point along the route. However my MCP200 routes me through no problem with Navigo, and I know Navigo will avoid any routes with truck restrictions. Also I see PLENTY of trucks taking this route, too many for them to be just delivering to some town along the route, and turning around before the restriction. My theory is that there is an INCORRECT truck restriction in Rand McNally's map info.

Also, a bit of helpful info about the 7 inch tablet. If you go to settings, about tablet, and tap the build number at the bottom, you will unlock developer mode. If you go in to developer options and enable "Force GPU rendering" the tablet seems to run MUCH faster. My theory is that it's forcing all graphics to be rendered by the GPU, freeing up processing power from the main CPU. I haven't noticed any negative effects from enabling this.

It could be a cold solder joint on the USB connection to the Motherboard that has cracked. Make sure any DC cord is rated for 5vdc @2 amps.

You can contact RM CS for the cost, but if you are somewhat mechanical savvy it is an easy fix is you have a soldering iron. Again it might be the USB connector also.

    Thanks,

Part of AZ-93 is Non-STAA, thus only 48'/96 trailers allowed. Car does not use truck restrictions and bus does not fall under the trailer restriction.

Page 8/c2 of map. Once you get to 36.011749, -114.739652 on AZ 93 it is Non-STAA routing,, this extends over to NV 93/95 onto I-515.

It does not show under restricted routes since it is a Legal Non-STAA route. It is just not a STAA route per AZ and NV DOT.

Even though the line is yellow, you need the yellow "shadow" over the route for it to be STAA.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Network

Also if you see PLENTY of trucks going over a 20 ton bridge, does this mean it is truck legal for 40 tons?

Just because you see another truck on a route does not mean it is truck legal. LOOK at your MCRA for listed legal STAA routes.

This has been an ongoing issue for many moons. AZ sets the restrictions, not RM. IF you look at the Wiki Link, current as of last year AZ-93 is not part of the National Network for STAA dimensioned commercial vehicles which the RM MCRA also reflects.

    Thanks,
    Mark

As AZ doesn't appear to be enforcing the Non STAA status on US 93, as it's a pretty heavily used route by 53 ft trailers, would it be prudent for RM to contact AZ DOT and find out what their stance is on this situation and if they say that they won't enforce the status then RM could change the settings on the units and this ongoing problem can get solved.
    Just an idea ????

RM legally can only publish what the State puts out. But, that does not mean the driver cannot change their trailer to 48'/96" and thus problem solved.

I have been saying this for many many years... Driver has control of their settings.

BTW,,, AZ does use this route for OS/OD....LOL....but they set their rules not RM...

    Thanks,
    Mark

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere prior, but don't have the time to go back through possibly a hundred pages.

Are others still having issues with theirs freezing up during the route at splits? Mine has been doing this for months, and I know the last time I looked here, others were having the same issue. Just yesterday it happened three times in Atlanta alone. Once it wasn't even during a split. Was just driving through normal Atlanta traffic, doing 30, looked up and noticed it stopped when I was doing 59 and was no longer tracking.

I have the 720, and just recently updated version and maps.

Well I updated maps and it fixed the charging light issue, which is kinda odd. It only turns red when it speaks now, then immediately back to green. Not sure how those two could be related. Maybe I'm still on borrowed time, who knows.
