I heard crengland is notorius for not getting drivers home. That's a shame you went thru hell with them. What companies do and say are two different things ,moving forward always remember that. All the mega carriers use DAC so don't waste your time filling out applications with them..You can try craigslist under transport in your area for a trucking job.But there's a good chance they won't be the best outfit but probably a little better then crengland. You'll get home more and make more money. But you'll have to work hard so keep that in mind.Don t Let the low pay per mile stop you from applying considering what happened with england
i have abandoned my truck

It always saddens me to read how some companies will ruin potentially good drivers. I remember how bad I was treated when I started out, but I wanted to do it so much I put up with a lot. Now I have enough time that I don't ever need to suffer through the BS again. That having been said, doesn't mean I am above doing my job professionally. Returning what doesn't belong to me is part of that; it is the same as stealing. It it your professional responsibility to be the better person and demonstrate you have what it takes to do the right thing. Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is looking. In the end you should ask yourself, would I hire me if I did this?

Would you give the keys to a vehicle worth in excess of 80 thousand to someone with a history of leaving vehicles just anywhere? Or leaving what could be anywhere from 20 to 300 thousand worth of cargo just anywhere? There is a reason truck abandonment is the kiss of death with most of the larger carriers. I would rather hire a sop drunk then someone with an abandonment history.

When I was having mechanical issues that led to an out of service order and safety problems (find my post from last week(?) for details), I considered it, but decided it would be better for me to complete the delivery as best as possible and deal with the solution after since I was 3000+ miles from home.

Oh, abandonment is the kiss of the death in the trucking industry? He really screwed the company over did he.
Here is some news for some of you. Most of the trucking industry is not mega-crap companies that care about the DAC. Most of the freight industry (like 90%) is small trucking operations that don't care about the DAC. Then you have construction, AG, towing, state and local jobs, septic, logging and wood products, auto hauling, hot-shot, ect, There are many more avenues of earning a living then trucking for the mega-crap companies that burn drivers with the DAC. Most pay more and have more of a future then mega-crap trucking.
As It appears from this guys post he tried to work out with CRE hometime. CRE did not want to work it out with him. It appears CRE used the very nature of the long haul trucking to keep this guy from home in fear that he might jump ship while at home. These companies do that a lot. It is the only tool they have to stem the tide of 100+% turnover that they all have. He took his life in his own hands and offered to leave the truck where they want. As far as I can tell he was working with them; abandonment is just CRE's retaliation for calling them out on their crap. These companies do that, nothing new.
