Well he did say he's willing go to ice skating in the winter for better rates if need be.HalpinUout Thanks this. -
Hey freightwipper, would you mind giving me an idea of what current rates would are in PA, OH, IN, IL regional? Everything from couple day hauls to short 3+ load/day hauls. I don't care short or long haul, as long as the money is there...would hope to be able to make 800-1000/day, not sure if that is doable with current freight market.
My business plan for the beginning would be to spend 1-2 weeks a time out with few days in between, pay myself 1200/wk and put the rest into a business account. -
Not to sound negative along with the rest, however we're being very realistic because all of us on here for the most part have some experience here, and i know just like FW has been saying... That lane WILL make you go broke. I've never seen a good rate around that area, but maybe that's because i don't consider 1.15 to be good, infact you could probably make more at swift. Especially you needing to be home every weekend, honestly it will be a disaster. If you have bills and a family to take care of, my only suggestion would be to get the idea of every weekend home, and go to where the real money is, and trust me it aint down south. And just because you see lots of IC's playing down there doesn't mean that they know what there doing, I've lost count of IC's that I've heard refuse to go somewhere because they don't like it for whatever reason, on along im thinking to myself its a matter of time before that truck is turned in and another warm body is put into it lol. Look up a youtuber "southern highway" he was an IC that lived in SC and wanted home every weekend, i think he lasted 3-4 months?

In the midwest there are 100-150 mile loads that pay over $3. Done a few of them to Chicago recently.
However again rates are all over and then you have to factor in deadhead miles.
When I'm out 7 days in the midwest i average 2300-2800 miles running in the $1.70s to $1.80s all miles.
I consider PA the Northeast.
Once you hit Pittsburgh good luck getting a load going west that pays anything more than $1, especially on weekends.
PA you'll get your money going in but leaving is tricky. The more you go into NJ, NY then New England the worse it gets trying to leave.
Northeast regional is fine if you can tolerate it and if you work it right you can earn more than the midwest. I've averaged more $2+ weeks in the Northeast than the midwest. That's with not doing the Northeast much either.mxpx148 Thanks this. -

I run that NE like FW, the rates are good in that circle around VA , PA, NJ, etc . I'll duck down to the Carolinas and come back up . I can get Texas to PA though and get back in it but I'm on a different system . I'm actually loading to Utah right now looking for ca short haul
