To my fellow owner-operators
Who within this forum hauls automobiles (whether you're doing it under your own authority or leased on to a carrier), hows business in that sector? Could a guy do just as good with a 7/9 car trailer versus a stinger unit?
I use to do towing years ago and got out of it because in my small town, I got tired of fighting with the other 9 towing companies in the area over a wrecked car. The owner of that company back then was considering getting into the auto transport sector but backed out of it because of he needed to cut cost. I am currently pulling a van and considering the auto transport business but wanted to get some feedback from people that's in the business already.
Just a little note, I am domiciled in Southeast Texas and possibly will be relocating to East Texas of Fort Worth.

Just if you do get into it, go with a huge company that has been doing it for years. I wouldn't go with one that you've never heard of. Not right now with the economy the way it is. Northeast is about the only place moving anything right now, and that just sucks! We are just biding our time until hauling oilfield pipe is back in the works so we can climb back up where we were! Good luck driver! -
