Company trucks at governed at 62. Lease trucks at 65. On a rare occasion a lease op will go get his truck turned up secretly so he can run a little faster every now and then. If you've read any other prime thread you would have read those govern speeds. The company guys drive 58 because it benefits them financially from either .03-.08 cpm extra each week based on there mpg that week.

The average company driver is getting 2500-2800 miles a week at a base rate of .44cpm (this is fir those with no experience to one year of driving) and then you add to that an extra .03 cpm on average and now you have a driver making .47 cpm or more each week off of that. Sounds like a good reason to me to drive slow like that.

Like another poster said, just pass them!

Ok well that person that said prime had to have been going 70 just seemed like he was.I think lease or owner operators, companies shouldn't touch their trucks unless the driver wants them to.

lease ops who are governed at 65 are not owner operators.
