The hood mirror is important for the blind spot from back of rear view mirror up to front. Cars are still hiding there sometime.

That ramp is one lane......signs over a mile away that say 285 N is right lane...
Usually it is the 4 wheelers cutting the truck off at the last second to hit the off ramp.

Welcome to Atlanta! Home of the Watermelon 500!
No foul or accident so no problem!....lol!

Thanks everyone for understanding and for your words of encouragement. All day today, I took much more time to look in those mirrors before any lane changes. Got to make that a habit.

Many times I could've done the same thing but I'm religious about my mirror checks constantly so if someone in my mirror disappears I look harder before I switch and do it slower .. The key is to know who's around you at all times but these days with cars driving so fast one can sneak in on you that's why switching slower can save your bacon .. Don't sweat it you didn't hit and close calls make you a better driver if you use it a education rather than get mad at other person like many do

Reminds me of when I just started driving solo and came within a couple inches of backing into someone.
Seriously rang my bell and I beat myself up over it for weeks but the bright side is I never felt like an idiot for getting out to look again, for some reason as a new driver I thought that was a sign of weakness or something lol

Close calls like that just make me realize how bad I'd feel if I actually did make a serious error. Keeps you on your toes knowing that.

Any trucker who says that he or she has never had a close one like yours is lying. Just chalk it up and don't forget it.

When I was a kid they had this defensive driving campaign that said Watch out for the other guy. I think they wrote it just for us.

    Krafty24 and tucker Thank this.
