Can I use this road to California? It goes around Lake Tahoe. I see a low clearance tunnel if you check with the "trucker path" app, but rechecking with the google maps "street view" - the sign says, 21' in the center, 13.7' left side and 14.2' right side. Anybody used this road?
US-50 from Carson City, NV to Pollock Pines, CA - any restrictions ???

If your not pulling a 48 foot trailer. Forget it. I dont recall a tunnel but its been a couple of years. And I've only used it from reno. Theres been 2 cops sitting at the grocery store everytime ive gone through tahoe.

If I remember correctly, it has a few hair pin blind turns. I took that route from Reno to Placerville one time and it was the last. I went thru 80 after that.

Yep. Climbing up from carson city. Didnt bother me any but i dont think id be taking any loads 60 feet long.
Verdel and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
US-50 is a no go from Tahoe to Placerville unless you have a 48ft trailer and are 65ft or shorter. Going up Echo summit watch the right side because you will be real close to the cliff walls and if not paying attention you will hit the rocks (I have seen a truck tear a hole in the side of his trailer). The CHP will have a field day with you if you go that way and you're over-length.

Well I am on a "Power only" mode right now pulling some company trailer and this is a 48' step deck loaded with generators. The highest point of the load is exactly 13.6', the whole composition is 60' long.
