I will probably be murdered for this post but here goes anyhow. I have been lurking here for years and had a old log in but pretty much quit posting and mostly just read and try to keep up.

I have a question for folks out there. How many use or would use a dispatch service? If you would use one what type of features would you like to see? What would be a fee structure or pricing you would like to see?

I ran as a owner operator for 7 years, leased onto a very bad company for 3 months. I now work in logistics dispatching trucks for a brokerage. I would like to break away from this and put my knowledge and contacts to better use. I mainly work in heavy haul and open deck freight so that would be my desired goal as well in dispatching. Seems I need to line up a few small fleets or owner operators so I can make this switch.

Mainly I am just looking for good insight and thoughts on how to run this effectively and most of all so it works well for the carriers.

***This is not an ad I am just answering the OP's questions***
I am a brokers agent and we offer a $150/truck/week service. No long term contracts. Everything is week to week.
    Services offered:
    • Finding and booking loads
    • Negotiating rates
    • Filling out carrier set up packets
    • Invoicing brokers
    • Minimum broker fees on *** loads (*** charges me a fee to process loads, I would not make a profit on *** loads).
    • Fuel Advances on *** loads
    • Quickpay options (2 or 5 day) on *** loads.
    • 102 credit score, and standard 28 days to pay.
where *** is the name of our brokerage.

There is also a lower fee of $100/truck/week for 10 trucks or more.

    Hope that helps
