That 30 minute rule applies to driving. Once you have driven for 8 hours, you have to do the 30 minute break. Most companies Ive dealt with want you to do it before you get to 8

No, it's not once you have driven for 8 hours. It's if you've been on duty for 8 hours or more since your last off duty period of at least 30 minutes you cannot drive until you have a minimum of 30 minutes off duty.

So, if you're done at the shipper, having logged line 4 the entire time there and 8 hours has passed since your last break of 30 minutes or more you cannot drive.

So, you can't be off duty while at the shipper yet you can't drive to leave the shipper to take a 30 minute break.

Curious to know how the 'by the book' guys deal with that. :)

No, once you go on duty that 8 hour clock starts ticking down until you take a 30. It doesn't matter if you're driving or not.

You are right but it also says if you had other breaks during that time of less than 30 minutes, you can combine them to meet the regulation. From reading that looks like they changed it?

Jesus h Chri......You guys are somethin' else

Why is this even remotely a discussion?

You guys are acting like doing a friggin log is taking over your lives...

Just do what you can,Drive safe, And focus on more important things in trucking than logs......

    Umm....no, it doesn't.

It says, a driver that takes multiple smaller breaks should extend one of those to 30 minutes.

THERE IS NO COMBINING OF BREAK TIME!

Logs aren't that complicated, people. Seriously, some of you guys need reading comprehension 101.

    TA

Not sure if you guys are driving the short bus or riding in it :biggrin_25512:
