Thanks man I appreciate it. It's really a big step for my wife and I, we talked about it from a million different views it seems like. As soon as I get a little extra cash I'm going to get my llc setup and then on to the sba. Hopefully having good credit helps with this process. Hoping to be up and running within 2-3 months.

I think the direct freight or contacts going out is essential. It would be helpful to know what the rate going out is. I wouldn't try to get the work by undercutting them but by offering them better service from someone they know and trust.

If you are smart about it you will have no problem getting that rate. If you don't see the heavy haul at a particular time look at partials. Have one of our guys that just does that and has abandoned oversized.

    Jakehawk9 Thanks this.

Yeah in my mind pulling permits for a load is more than its worth. Just my opinion. And if it's big enough you have to get a pilot service. Rather just deal with myself when hauling

There used to be a broker right there in Newell's that did a lot of stuff for the railroad. We would hook up to one of the flatbeds up at Pre-Stressed in the winter when powder slowed and haul for him. Had good rates going out and often times coming right back into the rail yard there in town.

I don't know if that guy is still there because I don't live there or work in that segment any longer but another thing you might look into, contact Kathy over at P&B (her office is out in the old Floyd Wild building on Cow Palace Road) and see if you can get in on some of her building/bridge moves. She uses outside trucks on large projects and those are just day runs to boot. Might have to install a pintle hook on your tractor to tow the bridge dollies back but those are not expensive and useful for other things like when your stuck turning into a job site and need pulled out backwards.

Holy shoot. Thanks man. Same family owns that truck stop. Old man died and it'd his sons. I'm not sure if somebody is still brokering there
