We (or maybe just me) could do with that option for the fuel islands also.

Did you get your new trainee yet?

Really should have at least twice that much accessible when OTR. Never know when things could go south and you find yourself on the side of the road thousands of miles from home.

I wouldn't feel comfortable out here without a get home contingency plan or three.

I don't think my company would ever leave me stranded on the side of the road. Besides Greyhound doesn't cost all that much.

The fuel out of pocket deal? I too am guilty of doing that, just once though, when I missed a fuel stop going to Pella windows in Murray Ky. I was on "E", the idiot light was on and I was duecing a brick. I did my drop and hook then went across the street and put 50 gallons in with my credit card. I called in and was offered a reimbursement on my card or wait until payday. I waited until payday. I see the point of doing it, but I think in his situation I would have called in and burnt up the phone until they straightened it out. Subtle threats work, even if you are on your first load.

Look, I'd like to engage with this lively discussion, but me's tired. We did 2100 miles since leaving Richmond 6am yesterday, and now I'm in the only rest on US 2 in bum skid Montana. Carry on everyone, say goodnight Johnboy.

Oh, my dear, you will soon know the joys of the pee bottle. Especially with some of the places we deliver. Your naïveté on the subject is cute. I guess since you were in training the places you and your trainer delivered all had restrooms that were fit for human use and you always stopped at wonderful facilities. Wait until you deliver a Boars Head where you get there the night before for a 4 am delivery and they don't come in until then. Or Sabra to Belvidere IL where the bathroom is hit or miss as to cleanliness (or when they're closed altogether). Or Hill Phoenix to a new store, which BTW is first come first served, no matter what your QC says, and you get there the night before. I could give you more examples, but you get the idea.

Oh, almost forgot. On the subject of the cameras. Yes, they do record on a loop 24/7 while the truck is running. And yes, sometimes the 3rd party that handles this catches drivers doing unsafe things and they get called into safety. I was witness to an incident of just that. Driver had been told numerous times not to cover his camera and when said driver finally did as instructed, was caught not wearing seat belt. It was a bad discussion with f-bombs being dropped and yelling involved. No catastrophic event, just a random viewing. So, yeah, it can bite you, but usually, if you're being safe and contentiousness, you're golden.
