Id say do you own brokering...You can put them trucks to work if you hit the pavement and hook it all up.....walk up to the scale window with a box of donuts at your local sand and gravel pit, or asphalt plant...at the mine etc etc
Ask em who's doin what...who's hiring o/o's ? etc etc...Its a dynamic wheel thats turning, so you have to stay on it and keep up..
It would be a fulltime job keepin 10 dumps busy in my town..

as long as you don't pull a truck in the middle of a job they should not get mad. some jobs you can others they can get pissy because they promised a certain number of trucks and they may loose there contract if they do not deliver.

as far as bidding on your own work. depends on what level your talking about. hauling directly for a gravel pit or road contractor. or bidding your own jobs. where you need to do or hire out the dirt work besides just hauling the materials.

getting work directly from road contractors or gravel pits is just making calls knocking on doors till you find someone looking for trucks. bidding projects can get tricky. i don't do it do it other than a person coming to me every once in a while and asking me to build them a approach or spreading a few loads on a driveway type stuff. there are places people post projects for bids. if they accept your bid you get the job.

Your city should have a website for city bids but you will need to team up with another company who also has 2-3 trucks so together you can have 5-7 trucks and then perhaps the city may consider you depending on the bid and the job etc.
