After looking at your diagram, I suspect that someone has spliced both sets of jake wiring together, so that the stage switch is bypassed, and you will have all or nothing.
Where it was once a peec, it may be tough to tell what was original, with cruise control etc.

    Oxbow-

I've located all of the components. The Injection pump switch says "Jake Brake" right on it, P/N 1022325B.

My clutch switch is up inside the dash mounted to the steering column.

Would wiring the throttle switch in a different position help at all?

The way they've got my jake switch wired up seems to fire all 6 or nothing at all.

    062-

I've been looking at that diagram but it applies to the OEM PEEC setup which has long since been done away with by a pervious owner. My truck no longer has the ECM but it does have miles of dead wiring that supported the ECM.

No more cruise control on this truck. That's another project for way down the road.

I guess what I need to figure out now is how to get the jakes to stop firing at idle speed.

Is the on\off switch off at idle? On a mechanical engine the Jake brake will still come on at an idle unless the switch is off.

Let me take a picture of the throttle switch for you - back in a bit.

Sorry - brain fart - yes, if the dash switch is on, the clutch is engaged, and no throttle, the jake will come on at idle. You have to turn the dash switch off as kwswan mentioned.

Thanks for clearing that up guys, I didn't realize the jakes come on at idle on the old mechanical CAT's if the ON/OFF switch is left in the ON position.

With that being said everything appears to be working as it should then. :)

    Many thanks!

    One last question.

Which side of the engine do they usually set the jakes to fire on when you've got the switch on LOW, front or rear? Going to earmark this for a late date.

You know, I don't know. I don't think it would matter though. Maybe someone else knows.

Set the low stage of the jakes to the rear rocker box. It does not have any mechanical advantage other then if you encounter issues its easier to access the rear rocker box. plus front rocker box takes more heat next to turbo.
