Wondering as a newbie with CDL (relocationg from ATL), what jobs are available in NorCal area? Doesn't seem to be alot of options, and was curious if ANYONE on the board can give some info.

Is Swift my only option? Seems most companies require 1 yr. OTR.

    Thanks for reading...

Werner and Gordon are nearby. They take newbies.
I am going to attend The Western Pacific Truck School in Sacramento
    starting Sept. 2nd.

Good Luck, Welcome to the Neighborhood.

    Try Hendrickson in Sac..
Lots of jobs in Stockton just to the south...jb hunt has a large rail yard there, have a friend who works for them-does real well....
Usually there are a few local gigs in Sac but dont normally pay too well
    Swift in Lathrop is close....

Plenty of companies hire out of the Sacto area. You've got I-5 and I-80 running right through it. KLLM has a drop-yard in Lathrop also. Interstate, Marten, GTI, and all the big training companies hire out of Sac.

    Germangirl Thanks this.

I'd go to Hendrickson before Gordon, Swift or JB Hunt. I would also try System Transport in French Camp, CA. They'll train you to flatbed. Flatbed is the best way to go. No hiring lumpers. Less rude shipping and receiving folks. Alot more interesting job.

    Welcome to the forums, HD.

Schneider used to be up in that area but I'm
not sure if they still are. You might want to give them a shout.
    Good luck! :biggrin_25519:

Again, many thanks. I spoke with a Schneider recruiter and they said that they aren't hiring in CA right now...whatever that means.

Yeah, been to South Sac. Con-way was down there. Wasn't "so" bad, but I get what you're sayin'.

Remember - I'm coming from Atlanta...

    Thanks alot for the posts.
