Most 4 wheelers are oblivious to the danger of stopping behind a tractor trailer when traffic is backed up.

Traffic lately (the last 5 years) has reached a saturation point where you can expect to see stopped traffic ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, especially on weekends where you add in a lot of additional 4-wheeler traffic out in the rural areas in between larger metro areas. But this time of year, never-ending construction zones are a REAL problem to be on the lookout for and expect backup problems.

Check you Google Map (with traffic layer turned on) every hour or so to look for problem spots, but they can pop up in an instant following an accident or other event.

Would do no good the slow and stopped traffic near the 150 is posted on a flashing sign 3 separate places before you get near there.

I hear you. You see a lot of this out here today ... many who are completely oblivious to warning signs and other cues. I guess if you're not actively engaged and trying to keep yourself apprised of situations ahead, then all the other warning tools are a waste of time on you, too.

I do imagine a feature coming in the near future that warns drivers in coming vehicles of stopped traffic or construction zones, or other potential hazards ahead by leveraging "Google traffic" [or other future products], along with "always connected" cars and trucks to alert the driver of problems less then 1 mile ahead with sound and visuals. And the problem with this technology will be drivers becoming reliant on this feature and assuming ALL problems will be alerted to, forgetting that sometimes things happen immediately in front of YOU, not always immediately in front of somebody 10 minutes ahead of you.

We've had that technology for decades. It's called a CB.

They have worked good the last 29 years I have been associated with trucks but...... Like common horse sense, they only work if you use them. RIP young lady.
