If not OOIDA then who? They are the last man standing for individual truckers in a legislative era when decisions at the state/national level are made with little or no input from the voters. Unless you buy influence, which is exactly what I am doing when I give my dues and contributions to OOIDA, you are going to get nowhere.
If you think an email, phone call or letter from an individual constituent is the way votes are changed in the legislature, you are a bit naive. But when an OOIDA lawyer or paid lobbyist has lunch with a Congressional aide and he mentions a membership of X thousand in that Congressman's district, it has a larger impact.
I don't agree with all of OOIDA positions or tactics. But they are in alignment with enough of my philosophies to merit my membership and support.

    tsavory and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

Maybe, but buying off political favor doesn't come cheap anymore

    That's what I'm saying.

Now brainstorm some causes that help the independent men and businesses as well as the company man. That way us company guys join in. Then they'll be able to afford that lunch.

    tsavory Thanks this.

I was your so called super trucker with my long nose Pete with my 650hp big kitty and ###### proud of it.
Jealous posts like yours make me want to puke.
Those issues ARE worth fighting for. No one should be able to tell me what I have to put in or on MY truck.
As for the sitting, I was always compensated.
Now that I'm back in a company truck, I get paid after the first hour. Everytime.

No you have not because you already gave up.
If you was doing your part you'd still be doing it and the words I have done my part would never be heard. It would be I am still voicing against over regulation.

What makes me puke are these drivers rather beat their chest and complain how the world owes them because they are truck drivers, they rather drive like a angry teenager that just got his licences, rather scream on the CB for everyone to stay out of their way, how about the super trucker on 75 south about 1am 5/26 less then a good legnth off the minivan in front of them that was doing well over 70 the way it was but Mr big shot though he would ride their butt, flash his brights constantly and lay on the air horn, they rather try and show off going through a travel plaza with the Jake on high, most of these driver act worse then the 4 wheelers we should at least expect it from them, most of the veterans have a chip on their shoulder , they rather sit at the lunch counter and bang their fist on the table blaming the DOT , 4 wheelers and everyone but their own actions, it's either the current presidents fault, the DOTs fault or they just got no pants on but when it comes down to it you can't get 2 drivers to agree on the price of free coffee. That's what should be making you puke but you keep that chest puffed out and enjoy your 65 mph truck and ELogs soon enough

I'll run the Elogs because I don't want to work that much anyways but I'll pay the fines for years to come before my truck is turned down.

And if they do manage to force me to turn it down I'll just change tire sizes. Just read a report from a truck manufacturersaying that a tire size change from 295/r60 22.5 to 315/r80 22.5 will turn the 68mph limited truck to a 80.5mph truck.
