it is fairly well customized as is. My late cousin Eric, RIP, died in bed at home....Set the spread up with a lift kit on the back axle for tight spots and empty tolls, has a hanging rack on the truck(Volvo 880) as well as a headboard on the trailer, has 24 I believe 4" straps and winders(he used to pull totes in oilfield) Getting a bit discouraged right now at the length of time it looks like its going to take to get rolling, but not giving up. Once in a lifetime opportunity for me. 05 880, 18, 3.25, rebuilt Cummins 565, 800K total. Trailer is 99 Transcraft Eagle. 40K for both, nothing down, 8% for 4 years. Like I said, I cant pass it up, its practically being given to me by family.
Landstar says truck and flatbed=73%=$2.25-2.30 a mile average loaded

I heard there is 3 thousand something open deck BCOs. Could be wrong.

I have doubts about that figure. 2.25 ttt is a bit high. I'm not saying some guys aren't making that, but as a fleet average? I doubt it. Not trying to bash landstar, just saying they got the same problem we do at mercer. Some guys figure out how to make money and some don't. Those that don't figure it out drag the average numbers down.
Is the potential there? Absolutely. But not everyone is smart enough, or willing to work to reach that potential.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Just did a truck search. 8620 active BCOs and of that 1926 are step or flat.
blairandgretchen and Scott72 Thank this. -
Ok I thought it was roughly 1800 platforms...not including rgn/dd,etc I thought the number was low.....I think there are more steps than flat also.......
