I'm delivering there tonight. Do you remember if Langley dr. was the current address? Its what comes up on google too.

Knocked out a little over 600 to KY from Fort Worth yesterday so I could sleep in some this morning and grab a shower. Only 375 to go. Will this Mclane take you in early? Appointment is 1am.

@supersnackbar .... Tell me this… How many days have you lost due to truck breakdown here at Magnum? Of course, any days you missed you got paid breakdown pay and ghost miles. In the same time, At Polly how many Days did you miss... say last year same timeframe? How much money did you get paid on your break down days? Just curious

Oh and one more question you say you're bringing home between 707 50 a week… That is after your health insurance is taken out correct?

I hope things go smoothly with your wife's doctors visit. I only wish you the best.

Very good thread I have been following for awhile. I will soon be transitioning out the US Army and I plan on getting my CDL. I will have Magnum on my list since me being from NC and that they go through NC a lot would work perfect. I come from a trucking family so I know what to expect. So I am ready for this journey I have been loving trucks since I was a little kid. I appreciate the feedback you guys and gals put on here. Also I really do appreciate what truck drivers do because I know it's not easy. Everyone has a blessed day!

We appreciate what you do. A lot of Magnum drivers are from NC. I personally don't go through NC that much while I'm out, but whenever I want to go home its never a problem getting there. Other drivers I've talked to run through NC all the time though.

Whichever one comes up alon google maps is the one, it may be the right address if you are coming from TX, the one from Gaylord wasn't correct on people net or the bills. I can't remember the street name.

image.png Langley is correct but you'll want to come in on Wright, when you pull in you'll be set up a lot better for McLanes driveway.

Its its just one CDL, and you'll want to get your tanker and Hazmat endorsement as well.

    Corn89 Thanks this.

I have missed partial days, but those partial days caused me to miss productive loads. 1 partial day for the A service, and the mixup getting the windshield replaced the 1st try. A partial day for the B service (called ahead as soon as I found out my reload info, but was too late to get an early slot). It ended up being 2nd shift before it was done, then the windshield replaced the following morning. A partial day missed trying to get the inverter gremlin figured out, and another partial day trying to get this weird 'pop' with the engine diagnosed. (Sounds like a gas engine backfiring thru the intake, but diesels don't do that). The inverter and the 'pop' were never figured out since they are random, and conditions couldn't be replicated. And the 'pop' doesn't throw a code. While my truck is like @Ordy19's in regards to not leaving me on the side of the road, it has cost me productive loads (partial days don't pay breakdown). Plus I have other gremlins that I haven't had looked at since they're just annoying, not safety related. I am having a hard enough time making money as it is, let alone losing time for them to chase down random ghost issues that are just an inconvenience.

As for Poly, you could count on at least 2 or 3 down days every 15k for down time waiting for a B service (they only do B's, at 15k intervals). And count on at least 1 or 2 days down in between those services for on road repairs. When you were at the shop, you could grab a loaner right out of the gate and just leave your truck there, but it got to the point that finding a loaner that would make it off the yard and back was a challenge. Plus many of their loaners were so nasty inside that you almost needed one of the mechanics moon suit coveralls just to use it. Their loaners were waaaay more likely to strand you on the side of the road or cause you to have to stay in a motel for an indefinite period of time while a dealer tried to fix it. And all of this down time was without pay, Poly doesn't pay breakdown. Their feelings on the breakdown pay issue is simply that they pay you a higher rate for every mile, which makes up for down time.

And yes, that $750 amount is after taxes and insurance, but before I take any on road living advances.

I did find out that there is a closer Peterbilt dealership to home. The place use to be a truck u-pull-it junk yard not long ago. It is now a Rush Peterbilt. Rush doesn't have the best reputation, but as long as the engine doesn't fall out or the cam shoot thru the back of the engine into the cab, it should make it until I leave. That is if the shop o.k.'s them to do the work on my next visit home.
