I avoid some toll roads, I refuse to use the Ohio turnpike if I have enough time to take state or US highways, Ohio extorts money from truck drivers and I refuse to pay them to use the turnpike, even though it's not my money. I try to avoid the turnpikes in New Jerkski, Florida, & Pennsylvania as well.

Florida can take some time trying to avoid the toll roads down there.. The alternatives usually have 1000 stop lights and burns up the fuel, not to mention burns up alot of time.. Price is not to ridulious down there "asa of yet"...

I can appreciate all of that, not giving Ohio your money. However, running around the toll road east/west will add roughly 30 ish miles. At .75 cpm in fuel alone, it comes to $25, plus 45 extra minutes. I rarely run Ohio, but as an O/O, I feel that is lose lose to run around the toll rd. 30 extra miles of fuel tax + $25 in extra fuel + 45 minutes, just to get out of the $32 class 8/9 does not add up.

Wait untill diesel hits $5 or $6 per gallon. You'l start to see JB, Schnieder, and ever other mega carrier on the toll road.

Yep, I hear ya. Back in the 90's when juice was $1.10 , I used to run thru Jax to get to Miami, adding 30 extra miles. Nowadays I run the toll road from Wildwood down to Yeehaw Jct costing just over $22.

You aint kidding about the stoplights when running off the toll road. One word = ORLANDO.

Gents, I dislike tolls as much as anyone, but I just wanted to make the point that with the price of juice these days, the mileage savings of toll roads makes them rather atractive. Even if it's a wash on the money, it will save ya hours on the 70, not to mention wear & tear.
