We are pulling for a small company out of Grand Rapids. AutoKing Trucking... 30ish trucks. Thought about looking at Landstar... Schneider wouldn't take us because my wife had an accident in 2012...

Without knowing auto kings ins and outs i couldnt compare them.
But landstar is in my opinion home for o/o . no company drivers..no dispatchers..no one but you.
You have the freedom as if you had your own authortiy. But your backed by a huge company.
There are other places great for oo...but if they have company drivers and (leased) o/o.. Thats not for independent contractors... You dont want to compete with drivers who do it for 30cpm.
I hope your luck turns for the best.

    KriegHund and bzinger Thank this.

Let's not forget about the 33% you're being robbed however. Almost the same way the dealership is charging an ungodly amount of money repairing home boys truck

Get an oil sample done. If the motor is showing internally it may need to be opened soon then I'd vote trade it for a new one. If it comes back clean, fix the turbo and keep going. You may want to go through rawze's videos and clean the emission stuff out yourself. It is worth watching on YouTube. His videos are on the cummins dpf only trucks, but I imagine the same concepts should apply to the dpf+def versions.

You can also get a JM turbo, it's cheaper. Cost you a round 2500 installed?

Well its %35 and yes we all agree thats a gangster ### cut.
Own your own trailer %72 of load
    Wout trailer %65
And(freedom of knowing when where what how my next load and paycheck will be is very important to me)

I dont like to sit and wonder..hmm where am i going next...if i decline this load i wonder how long until i get another one..

Regardless of where u go. I still say for a o/o stay away from company driver based companies.

And remember this... Agents are getting 3..4..even $5 pm on loads...
Its not that the rates out here sux...its that the rates the agents are stepping on sux.

I say keep the truck...and let the wheels keep turning.

    LumbraX and akfisher Thank this.
