S.i.g.h.
Sitting at "the Pilot" after a horrible run up to NJ of Sabra that was picked up about the time it was to be delivered. After a 9 hr trip of 344 miles up I95 on yesterday, and going over my 14 to get it done, then, a deadhead back to Sabra of over 7 hrs with instructions to drop the empty refer. Which I was denied by security showing me the memo, "no take, no drop". Waiting for instructions on what to do.

Hello everyone,
Many thanks to JohnBoy (and everyone else) for such an informative thread here. I found it last night and read the first 150 pages. Then brushed up on the last 30 or so. WOW!! Me eyes be sore! .... Well worth it for all the details.
I intend to call Abilene next week but was just curious if anyone could answer a couple quick questions for me. I have 2 years OTR dry van (some reefer too) but it was between Aug. 2010 and Aug. 2012 when I was forced to give it up to care for my mom with cancer. She passed in May. I'm looking to get back out there but I fear the 4 year gap will be a bit of a hurdle. My CDL is current as is my medical card. Clean record all around and anal about safety.
I noticed on their site they have a ... "Stage Three/Refresher– 6 – 11 months experience -OR- no experience in the Northeast nor recent driving experience" .... Sounds like it fits me?
Questions:
1) Do you think (or know) if they'd give me a shot to prove myself?
2) Do they have long haul OTR for a guy who will stay out for months without any worry about home time?
I ask # 2 because I have seen that y'all go to TX and such occasionally but it appears most of the freight I'm reading about is largely East coast running only? I like to run out West as much as possible. I was a paper logger so Elogs will be new to me.
Thanks in advance and I'm really enjoying the thread.
Chris
P.S. Been a long time since I've been on here but I did run a thread when I started with Watkins & Shepard. Maybe some of you saw it WAY back when. LOL

They will give you a shot.I'm on a load right now that picked up in Ca,delivering in Va,with a deadhead from Nv.
One of there main customers Volvo is in Reno.
I've been spending a lot of time out west here lately, and I love it.Any questions you have please ask and welcome.
And sorry to hear about your mom. -
)
Thanks for the thoughts on my mom. Was a rather tough time for sure. The past 4 years cost me pretty much everything hence the reason I'm not worried about home time. Yep, cost me that too. 10k a month in medical adds up fast over 4 years.
Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for! Currently still in PA but been looking to relocate to NC at some point after getting back on my feet. I won't burden you folks with too many questions before I talk to them first, but .... maybe one more? Do you have to fingerprint the freight or just drive? I'm not looking to be a lumper .... lol -
I haven't touched a box in my time here, alot of there freight is d&h,and if you want to run they will give you plenty of miles.
JohnBoy, MidWest_MacDaddy and chralb Thank this. -
Outstanding! Yep, I do like to run!
From everything I've read they seem like a really good act. I'm actually getting excited again.JohnBoy and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -
You know every company has there faults,my biggest complaint is the lack of preplanning.
But hey if that's the biggest complaint I can find, there not so bad in my book.
