Because that 'accident' could and will probably involve ME and my safety. That's who _I_ am to have a say in what speed he's doing. If he wants to drive in an unsafe manner as a professional driver on a closed course, then I have no say. When he drives in an unsafe manner on the same road that I'm legally entitled to share with him, then MY say is definitely relevant. As is yours.
You're right on one point - I'm not going to troll him. I'm going to let him pass. And when I'm stopped on the highway behind the carnage that he's responsible for, I'm going to provide my dash cam data to the investigating authorities, and make myself available for testimony in the resulting court proceedings.
And if one of my friends or family members is one of his victims, then he'll be lucky if he actually gets to talk to a judge...
Stop this crap before it starts.
Be safe, everyone.

So, the answer is to accelerate your own vehicle and now if both of you are real hard heads speed goes to 75. 80. 85. 90. You get the idea. And somehow that's a better idea than just allowing someone to carry on their way?
Bean Jr., Lepton1, DsquareD and 1 other person Thank this. -

The laws of physics change once you get into California. Didn't you know that? It's safe there for cars to go 15 mph faster but almost everywhere else in the country states are abolishing their split speed limits.

So if I'm going 70 in a 70 mph zone and want to get around another vehicle going slower and I decide to pick it up a few mph to make an efficient and safe pass, then there are self appointed Junior Rangers out there to chase me down and make sure I don't exceed 70, even if it is by only 5%?
This is just crazy and extremely unsafe. Just leave others alone and let those who are paid to enforce the rules do what they are trained to do.
Oh, and we would all love to never get a ticket in the first place. Many thanks to all the Captian Obvious's out there for pointing that out. If you have never exceeded the limit, then you have never driven. No one is that good. Come down an incline on a 55 mph two lane and it is pretty easy to creep up to 60+ without even noticing and then have smokey coming the other way... and watch out.HalpinUout Thanks this. -
I call them the good Samaritans. When they get across all lanes and ride beside each other at exactly the speed limit while traffic piles up behind.
Lepton1 and scottied67 Thank this. -
If you watch Ice Road Truckers, they have speed limits out on the ice for a reason. Go too fast on the ice lake and you create waves under the ice which will weaken the surface for the next trucks coming along. How rude is that?
California is the same way, it is Earthquake country. Go too fast on the road you create wave underground which trigger earthquakes and endangers everyone in the state. How rude is that?windsmith Thanks this. -
