You will get the truck assigned to you. If you ask for an auto and get a manual.....call me, I may trade with you. I HATE this auto! You never know what they will do, ask and see what happens.

Autos are more efficient, allegedly but the only true benefit I see from driving one is autos lower the work load in the cab allowing you to focus on driving and navigation.

    Real truckers drive manuals!

Sure, real truckers all drive manuals.....just what I was hoping to avoid here, however, as a student I'm learning and will become proficient as required, fine and dandy, BUT, not being the masochistic sort, don't see the sense in changing 7 gears before getting to 25 mph ESPECIALLY in heavy traffic. As you say, it is distracting and I'd rather focus on other driving tasks which also need my attention, like not hitting all the 4 wheelers who decide that the open space in front of my vehicle was meant just for them.

Yes, seriously, you will learn and yes it can and is a distraction. The industry is going more and more to autos as you know. As a rookie companies like to give older trucks. Unfortunately, most are manuals. But, ask for an auto you may get one.

But, a real trucker can shift through 18 speeds, snort, scratch and spit all at the same time and still beat a swift truck to Denny's!
Sorry, you told me not to.....that makes it a challenge!

I had decided on Maverick,..but took a 2nd look at Roehl. Guess they're kinda misleading like most. I was under the impression and heard that they were bringing inquite a few autoshifts, maybe heading towards ALL autoshifts. At the very least,.. they had quite a few, so if you wanted one..you probably were going to get one. NOW,..i skip over on THIS board and read how you can ask for one,...but basically doubt you'll get one being a newbie. Guess they're just trying to lure em in...

Rookies get older trucks. Older trucks are manuals.

    Good luck at Maverick.
