Trucking world,
Am i able to get commercial insurance for a cargo van and/or box truck without owning one outright? (I'm looking into leasing/ instead of buying to start off)..
I spoke with a couple of insurance companies and they require you have a (physical vehicle) before they submit a quote.
Leasing company require you have insurance before they will lease a vehicle to you?
A little confused>>>> any info..much appreciated...
Also any one on here ever bid on government/state of city contracts for LTL or courier services?

If your leasing the vehicle you can still get commercial insurance. It's just add of you have a loan. The leasing company will be listed as loss payee and possibly additional insured depending on terms of lease.
Check with Progressive, Berkshire Hathaway Home State, State Farm in some areas, Travelers, Republic still might. I think Allstate & Geico offer commercial insurance for the vehicle your talking about.
Have a copy of the contract for the job & the Vin for the potential vehicle so the agent can place the right coverage. It's common to see requirements in contracts for additional insured, waiver of subrogation, primary noncontributory and other demands. These add up to additional premiums with some insurers. -
Just get the VIN of the vehicles your thinking about leasing and submit those to get the quotes. You do not necessarily have to tell them you do not own it as of yet. If your just trying to get ballpark numbers.

I saw another post where you are looking in Ft. Worth. If you reside in TX or OK call Capps Insurance Agency in Mount Pleasant TX with the above info. They are appointed with a lot of companies in the commercial market.
