    HOT HOT HOT

In working with one of my testers and 5 TND's later... The issue was when he placed his 730 in his truck he would constantly get "No GPS". I would get the unit back and nothing would be wrong with it. This has been going on for a few months... what was found.

    <<>>

2016 Freightliner Cascadia. They claim it’s the new Detroit Diesel Collision Avoidance System. The ones that are equipped with the Meritor System are not experiencing any problems.

In the past 2 weeks, they have changed some of the wiring harnesses and it has cut down on the number of no gps incidents. But has caused the truck position in the wrong places on the map. They are looking into this problem and hope to have these issues resolved.

What Freightliner supposedly found is that in the communication between the radar, tractor ecm, and QUALCOMM system. A bleed frequency is being generated causing it to interfere with the gps signal. Apparently even the QUALCOMM gps is also being effected the same way.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I only hear the ding upon shutting down the unit, the screen is already off when the ding comes just before the whole unit turns off so I can't see any message coming up on the screen.None of any of the other units I have had have done this.
Also having 21 files that needed fixing after doing an update and that the unit hasn't been used on the road seems a little suspicious.
    Thanks
    John

That "Ding" annoys me also.. It is in the OS part and we cannot control that. The next time mine "Dings" I will do an MD5 of the unit and compare a prior MD5 and see if anything changes. You said you power the 730 off first before disconnecting?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Ok. So just did an update of the unit in question,Serial#730-061791, did a D/R after and no issues. Quit the dock, turned the unit off and when the Power Off screen showed it gave me the big Ding and turned off then unplugged from PC.No other notice came up other than Power Off.
If this is normal then I won't worry about giving the unit to the wife next time I get to see her.I was just concerned that there was a software crash happening upon shut down which would adversly affect the unit when using it.
    Thanks
    John

I have a TND 720 and a TND 730. Both have issues with the mini usb connection. The connection appears to be loose and so not supplying constant power. The 720 will fade to a white screen or one with vertical lines. The 730 won't stay connected long enough to keep the unit powered.

It would be helpful to know the exact problem and what you have done to try and correct it,eg: is the usb plug in the unit loose,if so it may have broken away from the motherboard,is the plug on the cable loose in the plug on the unit, have you tried gently squeezing it to make it fit tighter, have you tried a new cable and make sure the power supply is adequate min 2amps at 5 volts. On the usb connecter there are 5 pins, the one on each end supply the power, make sure they are not bent.If the usb plug on the unit is loose inside the unit you will prob need to send it away for repairs.
    Hope this helps.
