Great info here!! Thank you to the more experienced drivers who chimed in. My company is looking into a 44' framless dump for hauling scrap metal into the Boston port (Everett). Anybody with scrap experience care to chime in, I realize most of this discussion pertained to soft ground and dumping sticky loads v. gravel. Not sure if scrap metal has some own peculiarities of it's own to be aware of. Again, great thread!!

 

I haul burnt ferrous out of trash plants, be careful when you load sometimes the scrap loads break funny and in the last stage.... Providing it even comes all the way out

 

The articulation is in the trailer 5th wheel on a frameless so the truck needs to be made stationary, my truck has a 1" pin you can slide through the back of it to hold it still then pull out if I want to pull a roll off/walking floor/tanker etc, some wheels also have little flip blocks to do the same, or you can just weld a piece of steel in if it is a dedicated frameless truck.

Hauled plenty of sludge and fluff into land fills as well, piece of plastic in the trailer helps a huge amount

Will you be pulling a frame dump trailer or a frame less? I have ten years frame less exp in the demolition industry so I have dumped anything and everything.

 

Ten years experience pulling frame less. do you have any questions?
