    So... lets talk companies.
Steves Livestock... any experienced O/O run for them and willing to share good and/or bad?
    Rhoberg....same question
I have also heard (hence the ######## in the title) that most companies turn a blind eye and actually encourage running over hours overweight and over speed....

    Bull haul trucks
Condo vs low rise. Manual vs Auto ( I only ask this is some of the guys I have talked to run utos....and love them in soft fields and farm yards
Big power (500+) vs moderate (425-500)

WCB rates...are they more due to the increased risk of injury

I can't comment on the companies but as for studio or low rise, I would say that's personal preference. I've hauled livestock with 1-ton pickups and gooseneck stock trailers and always preferred a manual over auto, of course I was always hauling thru mountains. I would assume if you're primarily running flat areas that an auto would be ok but I want to have that extra control in the hills. and I was always in favor of more power.
    You ever hauled livestock before?

Only as a company guy. Mostly horses bound for J. A. Pan for lunch lol. A few (6-10) loads of beef across border into Montana. No hogs, wont do that.

Just wondering, too many guys dream of being bull haulers but have no clue what it's like to haul a live load that can shift for no reason, and no pigs? Guess you don't like bacon on your horse burgers lol

Well over weight is a big no no if your hauling fats. Do it once, and the packing plant gives you a warning, do it twice, and your not able to haul there for a week. This has to do with animal welfare, The packers here in western Canada take that very seriously, as do those of us in the feeding industry. Can not comment on the hours, but some of the guys who come in here do talk about long hours.

My experience with Auto shifts don't shift quick enough in soft underfoot conditions, and don't downshift fast enough when in steep hills that require multiple gear downshifts to keep moving. I don't think to highly of Auto shifts especially for farm work. over complicated, garbage.
All the trucks that come in here are manuals, 18 or 13 speed.

An actual auto like an Allison, are the cats tail hole in soft ground, but the take power and aren't in the past haven't been as good on fuel on highway. I hear the TC10 is better. Most of the guys who come in here are running 550-600+ hp so they are over the rating for any auto.

We have a 600 dd16 with an Allison. We've had pretty bad luck with it pulling 13 axles around. Western star and Allison are always fighting over who pays to fix what lol

Interesting. When I was looking for a new truck, Pete, Western Star, and Kenworth, told me that they could spec a truck with anything over 450hp with an Allison. Which model of Allison do you have in truck with 600hp?
