Yeah, the only problem with the newbies... and I am not saying run wild on the log,,, but if they log 100% like she tells them. They soon will be out of a job for missing drops and picks and not getting home or making enough to live on. 6 hours on duty loading??? Most trainers will teach a newbie how to log. It is up to them how they decide to run.

    1) yeah, I love watching y'all rattle her and get her back up.

    2) I still appreciate her point of view, though. Legal, however, doesn't absolutely mean "the way it happened"

    3) I certainly don't log 6 hours of on duty when Sysco is pretending to unload my trailer. I park my lazy butt in the cab and play Railroad Tycoon. Log 15 or 30 minutes of on duty while dealing with S&R and the lumpers, then up to line one.

'Course, if you have to supervise/attend/participate in loading/unloading, etc... that's a bit different.

I don't tell you to log on-duty the whole time unless you are actually out there dealing with it the whole time. But I will tell you a driver just got written up by dot for logging off duty while loading/unloading. You can't log off duty while # a customer guys! This I am trying to save you a ticket on in advance so please listen and if you don't I really don't care because the money isn't out of my pocket but I am trying to help you out. GO to the sleeper! This way you can say I went into my sleeper and played a game while they was loading/unloading me.

Off duty means you are free to do what you want! It means you are showering, eating, visiting the beach whatever (the company must give you permission to log off duty while under a load though).

Sleeper means you are in the sleeper. It doesn't mean you are sleeping.

Oh and thanks for the nice things you have said! I really miss it around here! I don't miss the being mean to me though :(

The rest should be on line 2! Go to the sleeper read a book whatever! Just go to the sleeper or it's considered on-duty. You can't be off duty # a customer. Read my other comment a little more detailed.

Oh your a silly monkey! The newbies and oldies can do what they want but they should know the regulations the correct way and make their own decissions as to how they really do it. I will preach the legal way and I have drivers that run legal and they make good pay checks! They are not scared to run more than 11 hours a day and take that 34 hr break so they can hit the road again freight permitting.

Again run legal or illegal I don't care its up to the driver in the risk they want to take. I just want the respect of somehow if something bad happens to anyone on this board and they end up in prison or lose their cdl because of log/accident you owe me the respect to come here and say Logs I am sorry you was right and to discuss your story. Regardless if someone else does it for you since you might not have access to the computer.

Heck I was told to do that so it would not go against your 70, but then again line 2 won't either.. (bangs head on desk):biggrin_2555:

About logging off-duty at a customer... I frequently do it. I would like to note that I log things as I do it, so while I'm tarping, the whole thing is logged as on-duty. But, some of our customers have a nice break room we can go in, watch TV, get snacks out of the machine, soda, etc. At one of our customers, I'll park my truck there and walk the 1/4 mile to town and go fishing or grab a bight to eat. Technically, I break the policy all the time. We're only supposed to log off-duty for 1/2 - 2 hours for meals. I'm off-duty when I say I'm off-duty. If I park the truck and leave it for something not work-related, I refuse to log sleeper and I'm sure not going to eat up my 70. I like to use that line 1 to ignore my Qualcomm, also, when I don't care to hear from anyone.
