Awesome man! As do we, looooooooove to fish. I've got ya by two years; we have a creek that runs thru our property, freshwater; and usually hang out at the 'old closed bridge' and play with bamboo, trot lines, etc. Its the best part of living in the country! Sweet skiff ya got there, man. . . . I've got an OLD SeaRay that we can take up to the bigger lakes here, its only a 28' i /o . . . we just don't do it that much; more work than rewards. We rather hit the banks and bridges on our property, or nearby, LoL. Hillbillies by choice, I guess.
I wish I could get pix from my phone to here, but I'm so IT stupid since I left the industry.....in the '90's. Nice pix. I'm still beggin the wife to do it, but she's busy with the pool and the garden....loving summer. At least she cleans the fish; and skins the bucks in season, LoL.

I was making 80K in the IT industry in my younger years; til they outsourced and RIF'd almost everything. Ergo, back to trucking. Sad that I didn't get into the military; my dad was, then when he got sick he talked me out of it. My vision isn't the best with colors, either. Physically for an old chubby redneck, i'm okay tho.

Sux about Superior . . . i kinda heard that about QC, dang. Go with one of the 'better' places as you are looking at; I've heard nothing but good about both; and China will 2nd that, I believe. What would you pull with Abilene? McElroy is mostly Flats, right?
My man, @TROOPER to TRUCKER, went with Averitt and had many issues that he shouldn't've gone thru, so I wouldn't suggest them. But you def don't want dry-van or reefer, right? And then there's my Buckeye budd @Mike2633 ... who's half our age, and kickin butt with GPS, which I'm too old for, trust me. You are younger . . . maybe you can do live loads and esp. unloads at multi-stops, but....not this ole' guy!

Re: flats, Man, I have to do that in the off-season, hauling asphalt here in Ohio when it thins out, It's inevitable. And I'm telling ya... look up some of my posts; it's more a comedy of errors than a seasoned driver doing his job, LoL. Then again, its not my forte'. Thank God I only do it within Ohio... the laws vary so much by state. I RESPECT THE HECK outta these guys. @cnsper @Hurst @TripleSix @w.h.o . . . . the list goes on and on. Apologies to those of you I didn't mention... Y'all know you have my indelible respect.

Question about your name... do you play? My WHOLE family plays. . . violins, guitars [both acoustic & elec...kids], banjos, dobros, etc etc etc...even got a set of drums for the kids. Daughter plays sax, as well. 1st chair in Orchestra, and in marching band. . .Extremely well. . . I can't figure it out, LoL. She even gave me 2 new reeds, and . . . nope! I'll stick to my strings, man. She and the wife read music, the son and I play by ear. We all 'sing' . . . . some better than others, no names~ LoL!

Best wishes to ya, man. If there's any thing I can do to help, or just someone to byatch at, lemeknow.
    One of MY kind!

Be safe, no matter which road you choose; keep fishing!

    Tom

ps: #### should've said this first. . . THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. My late dad was 39 years Army. Wife's son is in now; our son wants to go USAF. Awesome bro.

^^^ That IS a pretty thorough video, man. My wife is still pining to go drive, and between myself and my boss letting her 'apprentice,' this helped her more than our assumptions she should know what we knew, because she was often with. Right, @pattyj ? Goes like that a lot. She nailed it. And the video didn't yell at her like we did[n't']~!!!

ps: Kudos with sticking with the manuals; we've got long-nose Pete's from 84 on up to the '0-somethings. I'll take a ten, 18, or even a 5-speed Jeep / like we have, initially. I've driven autos, and spend more time with the override on the hills, etc...with a tank!~

Stay far far away from Averitt. Abeline seems to be your go to.

I like threads like these. He's not one of these people that thinks that he should tryhishand at truckin because he's some anti social loser that's worn out his welcome in grandma's basement because he wasted the last decade of his life smoking weed and playing video games. This one is a Man.

Try Rinauldo out of JacksonvilleFL. I know they used to take rookies. Just send them an email, and show them the fish and the boat and tell them about your military background... IMO, it's a good selling point.

    Luck in battle

Thanks for all the information everyone.......

re: my screen name......yes, I do play Banjo, Guitar, and mandolin.......but neither very well..... :D

Will look at Rinauldo.......probably just call them on Monday and see what they say......I am calling Superior on Monday as well to try and get them talking one more time....I currently have a start date for McElroy on Monday 25 July 2016. Talked to Benny Whitehead trucking today about 17 miles from me......but I really don't want to run teams and I'd have to do that with them for a year before eligible to go solo.....

^^^^^ nice COLLECTION, man! Let us know what becomes; I don't know anything about Benny W, at all; but I got stuck running teams with FedEx/LineHaul for about a year when I was back to 'new' in the industry myself. Personally, never again.......{but for the wife} yet I don't want to go OTR anymore!~ [let her have at it, if the powers that be see it in the future.] Teaming takes a special breed, and I wasn't one of 'em.
Keep bugging Superior, and like said before, if you can hang with the big boys and do FB, they are a special breed, I almost wish I were a part of.
Best of luck to ya, man.
Keep the updates coming; you got a lot of support here!
    God Bless, be safe.

Congrat's, a week ago I finished a 120 hour course. Have a CDL and on the way to Penny A Mile for a year of abuse (I'm pretty sure). Those instruments are awesome, it's a talent that I truly admire.

Here's the latest company recruiting video:
The 36' trailers and Freightliners are the Boston Division because the company they bought out up there used that kind of equipment the stops were pallet loaded.

Now I don't know what's up with the re-branded stuff they must have had newer equipment up in Boston and they just re-branded the stuff. The Freightliners are what throws me off GFS isn't really into Freightliner.

The 28' and Volvo that's way more standard GFS issue the division that were started from the ground up are going to be Volvo and 28' trailers mostly there are 50' trailers, but those are not really used for broad line route work.

Anyhow here's the latest company recruiting video:

This video is from 2007 back when we were GFS:
