I get asked a lot how I can afford to take time off doing a lease purchase.

After some changes I made my fixed expenses are $890 a week or $127.14 a day That's with a $75 bond and $75 equipment because I just got a few things.

I sat at home Thursday because nothing met my criteria, helped the wife paint etc etc.

The load I have on now AFTER fuel and maintainence will make $1225 off it. (525 fuel and $224 maintenance since I bounced from PA so my weekly expenses are already paid and I have decreased my negative from -$890 to -$555 and I still have another load to pull this week. If I meet my minimum requirement of $400 profit a day after fuel and maintenance I will only be in the hole $155 Friday therefore I expect the following weeks check even with home time to be between $1250-1400. Or way more because I have two weeks worth of fuel on my fuel card I haven't decided yet whether or not I will take fuel next week or not.

It's a numbers game, know your expenses down to the penny, don't let agents talk you into freight you don't want, don't go into bad areas without a contact out. Get paid for everything you do, tarping, my time, and my equipment isn't free. It's not free to replace and I will be compensated to use them. If not I haul something else.

If you can't afford to go home here, your bills are too high at home, or your hauling the wrong freight.

We get fuel by the load. Say your load is 500 miles you'll be offered $250 in fuel and up to $300. When you swipe your card at the pump you will pay cash price and as soon as you shut the pump off you will instantly receive your rebate back on your card. So at the end of the week you may have $300 in rebates on your fuel card. You can have your FM move it to your pay card (as long as not in the negative or under a load) or you can let it build it like I've did.

I want that money to be there in case of break downs, for my hotel. If I'm in California and have a family emergency no second thoughts I have the money to put the truck in a secure lot and fly home and back. Or if they piss you off in Houston one weekend like they did me once you bounce home and never think twice.

Or if your in the hole bad you just don't take fuel and use the money you have on your card to bring you out. Many ways to play it.

Exactly right Playa. And its actually more than $2100, but I only requested $1000 for fuel. The other $475 will go onto my check for this pay period. And I'm positive I will make it to California with just that. I've been using tactics to conserve fuel for 2 years. And I'm good at it. I don't have any bills outside of my phone bill, mortgage, and my daughter's academy tuition. And those 3 together equal up to less than $1000 a month. So while some of us get our panties in a bunch because loads aren't paying top dollar, I pay all my bills with a half of a check. And I spend the rest of my money I whatever I want fort the rest of the month.

After fixing my panties, kicking bricks while standing in traffic I realized I need to lighten up. So thanks, another lesson learned. Back to updating my business plan. Thanks again to each and every drivers on here. Continue to be safe, make money, and support your families.
