3 Questions: Military To Trucking

are you still in? most state have a waiver for the skills test. Print it up and have your commander sign in. Then take the DOT physical, study and take the written exam. Has far as companies go, that I don't know.

 

One small adjustment I found was switching from being told what to do and how to do it.
To thinking for yourself and coming up with your own solution to problems that come up.

 

before i make a statement. I've never been in or had anything to do with the military. the couple of soldiers i had working for me. completely better quality worker. less likely to quit there job after a short period of time. complete respect for their employer. I didn't have to worry about the truck being abandon on the road somewhere. no trouble boarder crossing into canada. if i thought i could get a few more retired or ex military. I would put the other 5 trucks back in service. there sitting now because i'm tired of employing angry job hoppers or disorganized people.

 

I get a card from my boss each year on veterans day signed by the rest of the office staff.

CR England allows all vets to bail after only six months of employment starting the day we get out pass the cdl driving test.

So by going to CR England, I was able to make over $1,000 a week barely after getting out of my trainers truck(by quitting and going to my current company).

I can answer #2 a bit. I should elaborate on my military experience a bit: I was not a truck driver in the military. At all. Not a driver of anything other than a regular car (I suppose it had some police lights attached at one point).

Heres two companies I know the policies of:

1- Schneider - raises salary by 1 year of experience for every 4 years in the military in any capacity. Aka 4 years military, start off at 1 year salary instead of rookie. 8 years = 2 year driver salary and so on. Also higher sign on bonuses but those vary by area. Also allows for that GI Bill money collecting. There may be other bonuses as well for military truck drivers.. A marine reservist truck driver in my orientation started off at .47cpm here with no civilian experience.

2- TMC - allows for GI Bill money collecting. Also puts shiny sticker on your truck.

Might want to tell vets to check with their state DMV. Some, such as Ga, offer free licenses, some offer free tags, some offer free hunting and fishing licenses and others offer other benefits. They can find a link online telling what each state offers to Vets but it wouldn't let me copy it so they will have to look it up.

 

There is a website called HeroToHire. It is supposed to help link companies up with ex military people. The company I am with has found several guys on there. And as far as I know , been happy with all of them.

Had a driver do the suicide trick,
and another is in rehab...
