Yeah, during the daylight hours (basically) i'm here at our fair. My daughter has rabbits. Between the animals, crowd, and things i need to do,... i can't really talk on cell this week much. I have gotton a few emails back from Maverick recruiters as well as emails from prime recruiters. I'm really leaning towards Maverick, more so now. My ONLY issue with Prime (and i liked Prime) is that they are slowly switching to the autoshifts. I have decided (don't debate me please) I want an autoshift. Most of the prime trainers are 10 speed and they train you in a 10 speed. I DO NOT WANT to train and go out with a trainer in a 10 speed. As soon as i get my own truck,...OR go lease, it WILL be a autoshift. It's stupid to train with the 10 speed,...if i'm goingto jump right into a autoshift. Prime agrees with that,.....they just don't have their fleet fully switched, it will be a year or so. Maverick IS switched over,...have been. THAT is the ONLY reason i'm not going to Prime. I LOVE that their trucks don't all look alike,...i LOVE you get the slightly bigger "condo". They even look nicer, honestly. I want to lease(buy) later and would PREFER not to have to lease a truck(or buy) one that looks just like a company truck. However, because of those issues... i'm leaning more towards Maverick. I'm waiting to hear back about the schooling they now have down there. I only know it's thru a state college. I THOUGHT it was C1,..because they do recruit out of there....but it's not. The ONLY info i'm waiting on,...is the scheduling idea of what this means. Go where first? Get approved by maverick, go to school (for 3-4 weeks?) that's upaid of course,.....and i'm assuming then the orientation and securement classes. The BIGGEST thing,...i'm hoping this means they have me approved and all background stuff BEFORE i go to school. I can't go there and get sent home,...because they had some issue. I have a family and bills,....and i had to sell my pickup just to buy me 2-3 months,...before a NEXT paycheck. I was hoping someone driving for maverick now,...that went thru their CDL schooling...before the orientation/training....could give some quick answers between emails from Maverick. Thanks eveybody,...between reading a ton of stuff on here as well as watching "Dale Clays" youtube stuff...wow, have i learned.

Call on Monday the 1800-289-1100 number can reach her easier. Can't answer about the pay or not during school, but the training is very good. Kinda old school teach how to trip plan (might want to get a Trucker Atlas) and do paper logs, in case your logs go down gotta know how to keep running! Good Luck.

I'm just hoping no background stuff trips me up. I have had NO tickets ever, never a "at fault" accident, no criminal record at all. The only thing i'm not sure about is job history or how picky they are about credit reports. I'm unemployed since mid June. I decided a few months ago that i really wanted to do what i always did,...drive. In June my factory decided to help out...lol. I lost my job because of points, most of which were when my mom had heart issues...then passed in January. So yes,... i got sympathy and too many points. I worked 3 years at another factory and because this ####y young guy THOUGHT i posted about him on my FB,.... i actually was terminated. I had a printed screenshot proving i was talking about one of MY friends,....but company didn't wanna look. They actually sent me home and forgot about me. Three weeks later,... i called to ask my fate. Then i got a letter. My mid level management friend said it was because they forgot about me and would have had to back pay me if i was in the right,...and THEN explain to cooperate WHY,,,,so it was easy to cut me loose. Aside from that,... i have debt like most i'm trying to pay. I'm trying to pay monthly payments on state tax owed as well. HOPEFULLY,...this stuff doesn't kill my chances. Driving and criminal record,.....i'm spotless

Just be honest with them. They are all about honesty. I met a driver who was a trainer for a while and is now an owner op with MAV that had quite the rap sheet. They hired him cause he was honest with them. Don't sweat the small stuff. They don't want to be lied to. Tell them why your not there and explain what happened. Maverick is a very family oriented family. That's why they try so hard to get drivers home on the weekends. I have thoroughly enjoyed my training which like everyone else said is very top notch. Maverick puts themselves above DOT standards. In the three weeks with my OTR trainer I have pulled into one scale. There Troopers don't even mess with us cause they know they are not going to find any violations of your doing it the maverick way. I'm glad I chose this company over so many others. I looked into prime. Why should I have to pay to go work for them? They wanted me to pay like a 100 dollars or something. Maverick has there own hotel in little rock. They feed you two meals a day. Don't know about the school though. But honestly talk to a recruiter. Think of your questions though before you call. Be organized. Make sure they fit your needs. And that goes for any company. Don't just settle cause that's what everyone tells you is the best.

Guess i forgot to update. I called to talk to the recruiter lady that had been trying to get a hold of me,..she was busy so another lady talked to me. I started explaining about why i lost my job,...she was pretty right to the point and there was no real understanding. She said if your terminated for "whatever",....you have to go work somewhere else for a year then come back. Okay,...but i'm an adult with a family, debt,...and i can't go get a low paying job,... i need a career, something that can help me get back on my feet. I can't go work at Walmart for a year. I was totally decided on Maverick,....loved everything about them and no idea i would be rejected . I do have a few smaller companies that so far seem to wanna give me a chance,....Maverick wouldn't.

I'm new on here. And I'm also a newbie to trucking. I am supposed to start my orientation on Feb 26th for TCD. I've seen on here that flatbed trainees have barn time to learn how to secure loads. Does anyone know the normal schedule from orientation to driving on my own in the TCD? And any pointers?

If you are TCD I think they split you off after the first few days for specific training related to TCD. Everyone starts together for the first 4 or 5 days, then FB & glass people learn securement and TCD learn TCD. Glass people continue on after securement with a couple of days of pure glass training. Everyone then goes out with trainers. Some TCD people end up training with a FB trainer, but they work on the tailer. It's all good, just go!
