Live: Somewhere in Pennsylvania

Well, today an annoucement was made about a warehouse that is going to be ceasing operation.
GFS has a 2 warehouses in PA and one of them is going to be shutting down in November. It's been announced company wide now so it's no longer a seceret, but I don't feel comfortable going into great detail right now however if you want to know more will have to talk on an individual basis.

Anyhow because of the announcement being made today I was moved to PA just in case some people called off and they needed people to cover, nobody is losing there job though because there not cutting routes there actually offering the current staff to relocated if they want to or if they can. If they can't relocate they have a decent severance package for sticking it out to the end so there not leaving anyone high and dry. There trying to take care of everyone. Actually that's one of the things that makes GFS a great company compaired to other places there not trying to just lay people off and they wanted everyone to stick around it's just one of those things that as time goes on you find that you have more use for this verses that. The system just developed a different way then they though 7 years ago and now this warehouse doesn't fit into the system anymore. It's a shame to because it's a nice automated warehouse GFS built from the ground up it's a shame to lose it and it's probably not going to be an easy sell for the company.

At anyrate though I've had so far a good trip learned a great deal from other guys through out the system was hanging out with two ATM's today and learned a great deal from them.

It was funny when I walked into the office today one of the ATM asked me "What branch are you an ATM from?" I said "Ha, I'm not an ATM I'm just a driver." He said "Hey now were all just rowing the boat together it's all the same really."

Anyhow will see what happens.

 

Most of the chain route leave at night time, I'm going to go to bed now because I think most if not all of them have already dispatched out they leave around 10pm at night and usually by midnight I think most are out on the road.
