That's the problem... OTR! Marten isn't an OTR company bro. That's a very well known fact. I run from Memphis terminal and I get west easy. Regional is the best option at Marten.

Like I said guys, money can be made here. I promise I only ran like 1300 miles last week and still almost cleared 1K. I can't argue with that

Is the detention & layover pay included in the top under mileage pay? I notice they don't give a line item for that.

Dave, did you see where they make you take per diem pay and they charge you .2 or .3 cpm for "fees" related to the per diem. At least it was that way in 2013 when i was there. They also do alot of all night runs.

    Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

They do charge on that per diem crap, but I don't do a lot of over night crap. My DM & I have that understanding. I'll run all day and night but I'm not SPECIFICALLY about to be playing with Walmart etc like that. I only go there for drops

They all take a few cents back & call it an administration fee. JBH did it all the way back in '06 when I started there. Schneider has a one hour dissertation on it. Where the mega's win HUGE on the per diem, is the money they do not have to pay into your Social Security Tax ( FICA ). FICA is based on your gross. It's tens of millions of dollars, maybe even hundreds of millions, that they are not paying into social security. And the driver suffers in the end, because that much less was not paid into his/her account, so if & when you retire, your benefit isn't as much, because not as much was paid in.
The employers share of the FICA is equal to whatever your paycheck deduction is.
If they deduct $87.00 from your check this week for FICA, the company also has to pay $87.00.
    It's a mind boggling amount.
It also can hurt when dealing with a creditor for a big loan, because they look at tax returns, and your gross isn't what it would be. They will see the line item for per diem and take that into consideration.
