Yeah, they seem to run more like foodservice. Bakery trucks usually don't have reefers on them. It's all dry load, even with cakes.

Back in the old days, before they added all these preservatives to make bread last longer, shelf life was about less than a week. Nowadays, these breads seem to last FORVER. I've had bread that lasted over 2 weeks with no mold growth.

Even with outdated or stale bakery goods, theirs still money to be made. Theirs trucking companies that specialize in picking up stale goods, such as Buttercup trucking, that picks up all the outdated stale goods, and ground them up as pig feed. So the porkchop that you ate for diner could of been fed by twinkies.

    Something to think about.....

USPS do start you off at $20.50 as a PSE but their are 2 types of list , theirs PSE list which has 30 drivers and theirs 190 career drivers which they been their for decades even on PSE list the top driver for PSE list been on the list for 6 years being treated like #### but he will be next to convert ones someone dies , gets killed and retire which that doesn't happen often. So $20.50 hourly but put 30 hours a week as a PSE with no insurance the first year and get switched like crazy on all 3 tour's.

PSE position is eliminated now. Come September, ALL PSE's will be converted to career status, according to our new contract. PSE's will either be full career, or PTF (Part Time Flexy) which is still a career position, meaning you will have benefits, pension, career payrate, etc., etc. PTF's actually get paid more hourly than full career drivers, because they don't get paid holiday pay. And unlike PSE's, you will know a week in advance what your schedule will be and have a set schedule.

Everything you mentioned about PSE's is true, and it's the MAIN reason why it's eliminated now. USPS had a hard time keeping PSE's due to the high turnover rate, but now that it's eliminated and they're all career now, it may be difficult to get a driver position in the future come after September.

Believe what you want. Why don't you ask the Phoenix drivers if you're in denial.

I'm a current career driver and APWU union member and in consideration for shop steward, so I would think I would know my own new Collective Bargain Agreement. I'm not gonna be pulled into an agument with you about USPS...just stating the facts. Don't know if you were a PSE before and it left a bad taste in your mouth, but whatever the case...contact one of the drivers if you think I'm making this up. And Oh...I do not work in Phoenix.
