Do you hear air escaping at a high rate, or a t a low rate, from just about everywhere? Maybe you have a ton of bad quick connect fittings, and need to spend a few afternoons with a six pack of beer and some ferrule style fittings?

Wide open for the hooligans. :biggrin_2559: Either air pressure too low or too high. Not too tough there. Simple fix ( or it used to be) 2 bolts and an air line. I used to carry an extra with me.

If pressure is too low or too high, just adjust it. Take the cap off the end and tighten/loosen the nut. 1 turn = 3 psi or something like that. If it won't adjust or there is more than about 25 psi difference between cut out and cut in pressure, replace it. If dryer stays stuck purging, it could be a stuck governor as well.

Or you are suddenly early to the destination after breezing down the interstate passing everyone. he he.

    Sorry.

Governors regulate the engine. If it does not regulate a engine, you would probably have managed to turn it over at 3000 rpm or something. If you are concerned about a speed that does not max out at the particular governed speed you need to have a shop examine the truck. Better pray it's not a case where someone hooked a laptop to it and made unauthorized changes to the configuration inside that thing.

In the old days of steam a governor was literally spinning balls. As the thing gets faster, the balls go out towards the wall under sideways gravity force. That pulls up a lever that slows the engine down. Going balls out means not what you think it means it means to max out engine speed.

Um, I believe they were talking about air governors. So that's where that saying came from. I've seen traction engines with those balls. I figured they were some kind of safety thing. Thanks.

A governor is a governor is a governor, however it's controlled. Air, electric, mechanical, prayers and a wing etc.
