Not sure if mentioned yet, but DOT reportable means one of 3 things:

    1) one of the vehicles involved could not be driven from the scene (was towed)
    2) one of the persons involved required medical attention away from the scene
    3) one of the persons involved died.

Just because DOT wasn't there doesn't mean the accident wasn't DOT reportable. If an accident report was filled out and the accident meets one of the 3 above criteria then it is reportable to the DOT. Fault doesn't factor into this. Also, as far as I'm aware, you don't have to be DOT-certified to assign fault, only to do actual vehicle inspections, but I'm not aware of the actual regs on this. And as far as being preventable that's up to your company's safety department. At fault and preventable are two different things.

Edit: Not sure exactly if calling a wrecker to right a vehicle and then that vehicle drives from the scene is considered DOT reportable or not... that's something we'd need some of the actual DOT boys that post on here occasionally to answer.

I have the same problem as any employer would. Here were in some 8 pages in and we got a half-hearted answer on what has happened!

WTF you mean by shackles on the drive? You roll a truck over, endanger your life and everybody elses life on the highway, and you don't seem to have the curiosity to be concerned what the hell happened to ruin everybody's day and your career.

^^^ Never said super trucker, you did.

You rolled a truck over not me. If it was me, I would have a very good reason why it happened or else be looking for another career!

You have some crap about a shackle on a drive axle that you are not even sure of. You think with that excuse anybody would want to put you in a truck? Think again. Your intellectual curiosity about the whole situation tells me your not worth the risk to put in another truck. And the fact it took 8 pages to get that out of you makes me wonder how true the situation is.
