Broad daylight.
It's in plain site.
He didn't swing out far enough to clear the curb. Professional drivers don't drive on curbs.
He didn't scan his mirrors through his turn.
The guys a hack.
I make that turn from right lane with a '53 three times a day. Twice in the dark.
This is how a pro sets up for that turn.
I'm no mega, I don't have billions of dollars worth of equipment to waste on hacks. -
Ive leaned on a few of them things Bollards we call em on the docks. Very large things capable of holding a 12,000 ton 20K TEU Freighter larger than a Aircraft Carrier. It don't move when I knock em with the truck and hurt same. Just don't get caught with the fresh shiny dent pulling back into the dispatcher lot. Rub dent with dirt and such to age it. That way no one yells at you.
Now those wee posts in the ground? Well... it will be a thump I tell you. And that is all I have to say to that. How fast? I estimate 8 mph at most.misterG, LindaPV and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
One thing EVERY driver should do is make SURE the hood mirrors and wide angle mirrors on your rear view mirrors AREN'T LOOKING AT THE TRUCK.
I realize some drivers just love to look at your truck in those mirrors, but that isn't the point. Those mirrors should BARELY see the side of your truck and give as wide a view as possible.
I rely especially on my hood mirror for blind side backing. If I was looking at my TRUCK instead of where I am going then I defeat the purpose. That passenger side hood mirror also allows me to check whether I have cleared a truck when passing, WITHOUT having to turn my head to look in the passenger side rear view mirror and risk doing the idiocy of the "rookie waggle" as I steer toward the direction I am looking. I can check the hood mirror without turning my head, and WAIT a while before checking my passenger rear view mirror BEFORE signaling to come back over. There is NO NEED to waggle into the right lane OR to have the other driver read the fine print on my trailer registration.misterG, Toomanybikes, LindaPV and 2 others Thank this.
