Well I got my logic from Mr Graves, former but recent president for the ATA. He stood in front of Congress and said owner operators are dinosaurs whose time has come to become extinct (paraphrasing) but very close.
So I only came up with that idea because they said so.

That is very true. And not just truck costs, but the costs for an employee is significant. Why not just use O/O to do a lot of the work? I would. The carrier I am with has more O/O than company trucks. And the relationship is pretty good. Not sure where the 87 cents a mile thing is, but I haven't seen anything under a $1.23 a mile for quite some time where I am at. Add to that, the carrier only has one fee they charge me... $10 a week for the Qualcomm. Base plates, permits, etc are all free, and some pretty significant discounts on fuel. I run when I want and where I want. Personally, I keep my operation within a 500-600 circle of the house. By the house a couple of times a week, off on weekends and holidays, and take 2-4 weeks off a year. Net last year was over $80K, and I am on target to beat that this year.

And I am on E-logs and I typically don't need to run faster than 65 mph to get where I need to in a timely manner. Most times I am running around 62 and taking my time. Not sure how fast the truck will actually run. 62 mph has me on 1400 RPM in 16th gear on an 18 speed trans.

Yeah, Graves was a idiot. They finally moved him out of the ATA. ATA and TCA are their own worse enemy. But the ATA and TCA don't own any trucks. Carriers do things as they see fit irregardless of the ATA/TCA nonsense. ATA/TCA doesn't dictate how O/O are treated at a carrier.

Oooh. We are going to have a "my junk is bigger than your junk" moment aren't we? The only "real", is the net profit at the end of the game. That is the only thing that should impress any person in business.

The higher speed is not about delivering freight faster. Perhaps in a few cases, but the vast majority it doesn't make a difference.

My issue is more about safety. One can argue that slower always equals safer. That is not the case. There are still intelligent drivers out there who know when to use some extra speed. Look how cowpie runs. Runs around 65 and go faster only when necessary. To me that extra speed is just another tool for the driver to use. If companies hire idiot delivers then they can govern them at their own free will. Do not take away the tool from 100% of the people and tell us you know best. Leave it up to who foots the fuel and insurance bill to determine to govern, and at what speed. If you really want change, change the speed limits. And make it progressively more expensive the more you go over if you get caught.

Will never do anything about it. I'm not just talking bout this industry, I mean everything. Ever so slowly chipping away our rights. [DIVIDE & CONQUER] is what there using against us in every aspect. keep the middle class and poor pinned against each other while the real deal goes un-noticed. It's been working forever. School doesn't teach you anything except how to be good little worker bees, look at how common core teaches math. Its pure insanity. Keep em distracted they won't notice and the few that do get labeled nutty.

It's comical hearing about driver facing cams when the nsa, cia, and the other abc's can tap into your smart tv and watch and hear everything you say. Same goes for your phone even if its off and your webcam. You have no freedom, just an illusion. This country has been bought and paid for long long ago. We've never saw the faces who really run the show.

After they get done de neutering your truck they want to put you all on CPAP and I was just reading they want to build a database of all drivers who are on meds and which meds they are taking whether or not the meds have anything to do with driving at all.
