Nice boxes.
I have also seen chain racks mounted under the step behind the drives on bulkhead, The driver had plastic strips (like freezer doorways ) attached over the assembly. Easy access and covered from weather.
Chain storage

We have one driver that doesn't have a headache rack and has been turned away from a few pipe yards in Houston, no big loss imo.
They build a box that fits down inside your frame rails of the truck. Right where the catwalk is. One of those with an organizer like mj's would work great. -

This is what I use, goes between the frame rails.

I built my own between the frame rails that way I could maximize space between cross members. I put my battery's in mine so I could do away with the saddle mounted battery boxes and put on step boxes, I'm short on storage. I made the whole deck plate (a local fab shop broke the material) when the lids closed it looks like one long deck plate, I know I know it's dirty, in this picture it was winter. The rear section behind the box is gone now I moved my fifth wheel up.
rank, MJ1657, 2CAN and 1 other person Thank this. -
I like the way you done that box in the frame rails. Would you mind sharing what size steel and how you made it. Almost looks like the top is made of 4" angle iron turned down, but i cant tell anything else.
I really been thinking of building one of those because i dont trust the aluminum ones unless you would go under and reinforce with steel. Id like one big enough for 8 chains and binders. Right now i keep them in milk crates in my side boxes on my trailer.MJ1657 Thanks this.
