Zenith isn't a common name, is the company related to the VCR?

Don't know if you are old enough to remember the "console televisions" or not, but back in the day all the high dollar TVs both color and black and white, were mounted in cabinets, and were big, bulky, and heavy. The "portable" TVs were also big, bulky, and heavy, just not as much as the consoles were.
This was back in the days when you didn't throw them away when they had problems. You called a repairman, and he'd come to your home and do the repair. If it was real serious problem, he might have to take it to his shop, and repair it on his "bench."
Rip offs were as common in this industry, as they are today in vehicle repair shops.
Motorola started phasing out individual components with their "Quasar" TVs that had modules that contained many of these components. If a component went bad, the whole module was replaced. Merely a matter of unplugging the bad one, and plugging in a new one.
This was actually the beginning of the end of TV repair shops...
And to answer your question, yes, they were one of the VCR manufacturers.Last edited: Sep 23, 2016
