For some one who has drivers doing high value and high security freight (and one who has done small stuff), the first thing is that you have to work for a company that does it and then inquire about it, forget about it and wait until they contact you.
There has to be two, both drivers have to be cleared, no passengers and absolutely no pets - period.
The pay is not all that different than you would get hauling freight as a specialized truck, but the again there is a risk. Training is not what you think it would be, depending on the freight, it can be superficial or really intense.
As an owner, can make more money hauling things on heavy haul than security freight.
Instead of chasing this, I would find a good niche where you can make more money and take more time off. There is also something about aircraft engine/parts hauling that make good money too, your experience may be a good thing to get you into that.

There are also Navy E6-b planes based next to the AWACS planes.

With OKC's two runways, they cannot flush the 24 plus AWACs in 20 minutes and still climb clear of the megatonnage targeted there. It needs dispersal.

What company does the Army use for moving stuff on/off base? Remember it always being O/O (husband/wife) with decked out trucks.

As for transportation of nuclear materials or weapons, only one service controls this activity. The Office of Secure Transpotation, a division of the National Nuclear Security Administration is your controlling authority. The division is comprised of all U.S. employees. They are all former military and have the required compartmentalized security clearances. The CMVs they utilize are highly modified and all the crew are armed and will kill anyone and destroy anything attempting to harm thier mission. You must not be older than 37 years of age to qualify but ypur mil service may extend that year by year on a one to one calculation. You have to operate from NM, TN or TX.

Tri-State does mostly hazardous. They used to rent some space in our warehouse. The deal was they couldn't actually store hazardous material in the warehouse, they could only back two trailers up to the docks and transfer from one to the other. I saw some real nasty stuff come through there.
They left right after they went bankrupt ( around 2004 or so), after owing us a bunch of money. I guess they finally got reorganized and are doing ok now.
