I've been through that scale many times in a '95 FL Classic and a '94 KW W900. Never been pulled into the barn but the trucks look really well for their age.

It used to be in TN that a Level 1 type of inspection was almost unheard of and only a handful of officers were trained to even do inspections. All that has changed in the last few years. Now almost all the officers are trained and they are putting up inspection barns at all coops. I guess they saw all that money they were loosing.

TN also used to have very short scale exit ramps and they would fill up really quick and you could bypass. That new I65 scale has a exit that seems a mile long.

Wait to you see that TN State Trooper 379 Pete with matching trailer. What a waste of taxpayer money. They claim it's to look down into cars and catch people texting but who in the world is stupid enough to text with a truck beside them that has "TN State Trooper" plastered all over the side? If that's what they really wanted to do they would use a plain truck.

Nobody cares what is plastered on the side of a semi truck until the semi truck does something they don't like. Heck half of the driver's on the road can't spot fully marked patrol cars sitting in plain sight until they're right on top of them and the rest of them are behaving enough that the cop sitting there probably won't bother them. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see that fully marked TN State Patrol semi having great success at finding people doing things they ought not be doing behind the wheel.

And what, he has disco lights and is going to pull cars over? Sounds ridiculous. Nobody would even stop. How do they organize that?

Talking to a Trooper, they have a car close by that pulls you over.

Even if the decked out trooper truck gets lots of people texting, they could do just as well with a plain old bobtail Volvo, they just wouldn't look nearly as good doing it.

I guess maybe it could be seen as a truck driver public relations tool but all that will fly out the window when the ticket book comes out. I just see it as a money pit where they've got to keep the barns full to pay for it. You'll see it at the I65 coop from time to time, wonder if you could pull a "citizen's inspection" on it?

They've also got a VW Beetle all decked out, why I don't know.
