I recently hauled a load that put me over gross by 25 pounds. Luckily, the state scales were closed, but I was sweating it all the way.
So, would helium in the tires have fixed this problem?
If I fill my tires with helium instead of air, could I haul more weight legally?

And if a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump its ### when it hops.

Use hydrogen instead... as long as you don't have Continental tires.

To cut weight, try these:
-Don't top off your blinker fluid
-remove 5 lug nuts from each wheel (that's all 4 wheelers have)
-don't eat b4 you cross the scales
-make sure all your trash is thrown away (those empty soda cans add up)
-on the topic of helium.....fill up a few dozen balloons with helium and float them in your sleeper. They'll help pull the weight off the ground.
Do all these and you can save up to 1.5 lbs.
Hope this helpsLast edited: Sep 29, 2016
FerrissWheel, 88 Alpha, MachoCyclone and 18 others Thank this. -
Helium by atomic weight or mass is lighter than Room air. Which is a mix of nitrogen (75%, oxygen approx 20% and rest other gases)
You will run into thermal problems pretty quick with helium. The weight of air vs helium is negligible. You would save more weight tossing out that trashbag you have been sitting on last few days. The gain in tare is negligible.
Me thinks you have been thinking way too hard. Take some time off, relax enjoy a woman back home or something a while. Take a load off.truckthatpassesyouby and Dominick253 Thank this. -
