These guys recruit hard! I get calls and emails from them every week. After reading through the posts I can see why, Flatbedding is hard work and often unappreciated. Having worked locally, for 2+years and stints with lowboy 40s way back, I think I may have something to offer them.

What I haven't seen here is speed of trucks And if they offer Quick courses for Locals who have never been OTR. After throwing fizzy water in one way shape or form for the past 15 years I think i could handle some Tarp with a few days rest in between.

Been reading through the reviews and the biggest complaints are home time and dispatchers. The vibe I get is that if you aren't willing to put in the effort and be #####y to the dispatcher you will get screwed. I'm no stranger to hard work and so far with 65 mph trucks anyway Melton seems to be atop pick for flatbedding. My plans go a little deeper but looking to get my foot into OTR with a good company,I really like the Oversize loads as well. Most of the bad reviews had to do with hometime or lazyness or people who are just constitutionally rude. I'm not pimping them. Im just telling you what I read. Iwas actually looking at Ss=hcaffer/Crete But I began thinking flatbedding might be a good learning experience.

I'm turning in the truck Monday, and going regional instead of otr with a Conestoga. Melton's an alright company to start but they're just to big, you'll have days where your sitting waiting for a load after being emptied out at 1000 cst then won't even get a pre plan until 0700cst the next day, so there you sitting with no money. Happens far to often, as for home time and my dispatcher never had an issue. Th3 final straw was my truck always being in the shop (14 660 with almost 400k) was just having def issues. However I didn't want a new truck either all autos other than trainer trucks now coming in with the auto braking systems just not my cup of tea. Not to mention for 8+ months I never got west of 35 so much for being otr? Overall decent place to get fb experience but that's just my 2c

You know Melton is doing a great job brainwashing these potential new hires into signing up. Look guys, this company has an EXTREMELY HIGH turnover rate for a reason. It's not because a bunch of lazy drivers can't hack it. It's because this company is turning into Swift. You can waste your time here if you want but I'll try and help you to not make the same mistake I as well as others have made. If you want HIGHLY INCONSISTENT weekly miles, tarping 99% of the time, lazy terminal mechanics, Nazi safety/log book staff, pay role mistakes you have to stay on top off, getting screwed out of detention pay even though you sent in both QualComm Micros and Transflowed your invoices that same day yet didn't fax the invoice ??!!, getting screwed out of a full parking reimbursement because melton has a "cap" on how much they reimburse but have never made this known beforehand, mandatory fuel solutions, incompetent night call staff, a terminal that is ALWAYS out of tarp patch glue yet won't give you new/repaired replacement tarps because your tarp is repairable, staff that won't speak to you on the phone if you are driving (even if wearing a headset), sweating to death fighting tarps in the heat, freezing fighting tarps in the cold/wind/snow/blizzard while your hands go numb.... The amount of crap you have to put up with is not worth the money. Melton is on a hiring frenzy and even sent my 59 year old dad an invite to apply!! They are constantly sending out messages on the QualComm trying to get current drivers to become trainers. Sounds like Swift doesn't it?? Life is very short guys and we can't buy time so don't waste what little you have on this earth. Sign up with Melton and you will be one of the drivers headed right back out of the revolving door. Hooghouse is leaving Monday (congrats) and I am out the door December 19th and have already let my DM know that as of last month! Just a heads up Hooghouse, when I started at Melton I had a 660 that was having DEF issues and I was in the shop every week or every other week. Come to find out the engine bad due to faulty valve seals and burning oil causing the DEF filter to clog and throw engine codes. I was stuck in northern Washington for ten days while it got rebuilt. I can almost guarantee your 660 is in the same boat. Stay away from Melton guys. Your life is worth more than this.

    T. Hooghouse Thanks this.
