I've got 26 months experience driving OTR. First as a company driver for 10 months and then O/O for 16 months, all for the same mega. I sold truck and now want off OTR. Great NVR and no criminal history. I would like to be home every night and weekends. I do not want to drive day cabs hauling vans around all day and going home for 8 hours and coming back. But there are plenty of these kinds of jobs... what else is out there? I looked into yard dog, waste companies, school bus driving, and propane companies. I also can probably drive for local farmers hauling grain with their trucks but don't know anything about grain hauling.
My ideal employment would be 5am to 3pm Mon thru Fri with a minimum of $15.00 per hour so I could be home around same time son gets home from school. But doubt this exists. Any suggestions?
Looking to go local, need advice...

The hours are going to be the toughest thing. Night linehaul might be the thing for you. But those hours are best suited for trash hauling.

Jb hunt might have some local gigs.

Get your hazmat and go haul fuel. Those are almost the exact hours my brother-in-law works (well 4a to 4p but close) and I don't know his pay, but more than $15. Of course the first year or 2 you may not get those hours, but like any other job stay long enough and you are no longer low man on the totem pole.

I've done local Line haul, trash hauling, and container work and haven't had those hours. Working only 10 hours is going to be tough to find IMO. I wish I could work only 10 hours.

Very doable. Research the fuel jobbers in your area. If they have a warehouse and sell lubricants... You could drive a bobtail lube oil truck. The company also had fuel bobtails (tank wagons) that would deliver to the local farms. I did both of these along with hooking up a trailer and doing gas stations (truck and trailer out on the west coast). I worked these exact hours. About 10 hours a day going in around 5. Look for fuel bobtails running around your area with a 1203 or 1993 placard. Propane could be cool too but you'll probably make more at a fuel company. I worked at a Chevron distributer.

Depending on where you live there are lots of options. I haul woodchips and shavings and sawdust. Make over 15.00 an hour, but work from like noon to midnight.
