Yea, those hours are my wish list. Doubt I can find that exact schedule. I like getting up early but also want home decent time too. Lots of these day cab local gigs get you in at six and get you home by eight just enough for you to sleep in your own bed then back at it.
Looking to go local, need advice...

The only job I can think of that even comes close to what you're looking for as far as daytime work, hours and weekends off is LTL P&D. Maybe try looking into that.
A lot of the local jobs that are available are based off of seniority, whether it's union or not. So that'll probably mean you'll start off with the crappiest run with the crappiest hours before you can get a cake run with the start times your looking for. I don't know if any of these companies are around your area, but they work around 8-10 hours a day, and day shift will probably depend on seniority......
Shaw Flooring has daytime work doing P&D, pay is around $25 an hour.
Costco Fleet drivers are practically all 8 hours and pay is around $25.50.
Mail Contract Carriers have 8-10 hour runs, but you'll probably have to call to find out if the shift your looking for is available, otherwise it's seniority based, pay is around $21-28 an hour.
USPS has daytime 8 hour runs, but it's seniority based. Pay is around $30-33 an hour top rate, but will go even higher due to new union contract.
ACME and Wegmans Grocery Supermarket Distribution have 8-10 hour runs. ACME is trip rate based and Wegmans has a no cap pay rate where you get a .50 cent raise every six months, that's the non union side. Pay starts off around $19-22 an hour for both.
Yard jockeying is a good option for consistent start times. Shifts depend on availability. Pay rate varies.
I would forget about Food Service or Beverage delivery because they work LOOOONG hours. Or try looking at Indeed.com.
Good luck.Pintlehook and Wild Murphy Thank this. -

Read the trash threads and it doesn't look good so I am looking for a small outfit or a farmer who has some trucks and is looking for a dependable driver. I'm definitely done with megas and bigger companies. What other types of work do farmers do? I can thing of grain hauling and milk. Trying to stay local or close regional, home daily.

Milk delivery depends on if it's tanker or store deliveries. I know a couple Dean Foods drivers and tanker gets paid less than store delivery, which is about $18 an hour. The delivery side gets paid around $25 an hour, but it's BACK BREAKING WORK and LOOONG hours. Start times are around 3 am. But Tyson and Dean Foods are well known companies, I don't know what a local farmer would offer.Wild Murphy Thanks this. -
