One of the perks of working in the food industry is that you get to try out some of the products you deliver.
When I worked in the Bakery Industry, we had all the best snacks that you could think of, such as....Swiss Rolls, Funny Bones, Hostess Cup Cakes, Snow Balls, Twinkies, Devil Dogs, Suzie Q's, Coffee Cakes, etc., etc. One of my favorites was the Soft Dough Cookies that we made. I forgot the name of it, but whenever we had these around, EVERYBODY grabbed a couple of these. The Fruit Cakes that we sold during the holidays was the worst. I never understood how anybody would buy one of those things. But needless to say, none of products we sold were bought for its nutritional values, although when the government mandated that we get rid of trans fat and use non trans fat instead, it changed the flavor of our products and a lot of people complained about this. I never understood why trying to make Twinkies healthy was considered a bright idea. It's like buying a Whopper Combo Meal and then asking for a diet coke, thinking that somehow that makes it more better. -
@Sho Nuff; if you are talking about those little individually wrapped fruit cakes, I agree! They weren't just horrible, they were HORRIBLE!
I happen to be one of the few people left in the world that actually like fruit cake. But they have to be made right.
Check out post # 7203 over in the Flo's Diner thread... -
They were like bricks, LITERALLY. A whole pallet of those weighed around 2 k. Every time I delivered those, I would up picking them up a couple days later, right back as pig feed.Last edited: Oct 21, 2016

I'm not sure if they were Dolly Madison or not. Dolly Madison had their own fleet and they would deliver to our depots and distribution centers. They drove cabovers. I THINK they were part of IBC, but I'm not 100% sure on that. All I know is I use to pull some of their trailers, so maybe they kept them separate like they did with Drake's Cakes. -
####'s like candy-corn.... ya know they made one huge batch in 1776 and the stuff just lingers around Halloween to Halloween.misterG, dngrous_dime, Mike2633 and 2 others Thank this. -

Well, a liftgate is like a firearm. It's better to have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it.
KillingTime, Sho Nuff, Big Don and 2 others Thank this.
