I live in podunk Idaho and we have non-union LTL linehaul guys making $1200 a week on a slow week. They drive Monday through Friday weekends off and paid holidays. FYI it's a huge well known trucking company.

    Yup.
    $25/hr driving a 10 wheel tank .
    Plus OT.
Delivering home heating oil and doing some labor in slow periods.
    Do the math..

Ok did the math 25X40=$1000. So need 5-10 hours overtime and time and half. Delivering home heating oil. It's probably easy to get from nov thru march/april. Dont no what kind of labor you do during the rest of the year. Reading your original post. I thought you were saying. It was easy for a LOCAL TRUCK DRIVER to make that money.

MACK E-6 and BostonTanker Thank this.

12-1400 a week as a local driver is pretty easy in this area. That ad is nothing special. I haven't heard much good about Smith Transport. Other than they had some nice trucks.

Will deliver commercial fuel to job sites and do labor on boiler/ AC installs in warmer months.
Yes it's easy for local drivers to make that money. Granted Im in Boston MA.
No one is driving a cdl truck for less than 18/hr. I wouldn't drive one a combination for that. So I am driving a straight truck for $25

I'm on a flatbed, local, for $24.00 an hour, about 46 hours a week.

New Penn, od, Estes, yrc were between 18-20. Plus other than od, the other companies equipment is well known to be junk. No thanks.
Trucks Im operating are well maintained. Mix of pre and post emissions.
Auto for city driving with few manual.
    Bcbs. Health and dental.
Oh, and no trailer to deal with inside greater Boston and Boston proper. Much better.
I have no need for trailer trucking inside heavy urban combat zones.
I decided that doing the dollar accounts.
Heavy straight trucks way less BS.
Especially sleepers and 53 ft trailers.
Keep those on the big roads where they belong.
One thing I enjoyed about family dollar was Fd trailers most were 48 ft trailers and you could slid the tandems to 30 ft to get out of trouble.
No need for big trucks or long trailers inside megatropolis limits.
My one time in Philly. . never again ..
Wouldn't even want to sling a single screw and 48 around that hole.
Country needs to get with it. Warehouses outside megatropolis limits.
Break bulk at warehouses into smaller units to head in.
No need for those trucks to be within a 25 mile radius of center of megatropolis.
    Just my opinion

The problem with mileage pay is the consistency. It's just never there, and I find it hard to believe when that claim is ever made.

I'm home nightly with weekends off, and my last check was for $1500. I don't get OT, but I'd rather be content than go somewhere that does pay OT and risk being micromanaged to death. That's something money just can't buy.
