Hey all, looking for some fresh input. I did the courier thing back in the late nineties and pretty good then. I was grossing about 55k a year in E350...........Anyways, I'm wondering what the money is like these days (Northeast - specifically Boston). I talked to one courier outfit, the guy was crazy busy, and I didn't get a hell of a lot info, except that he's "crazy busy" and the money's still there. Back then if i got $1.00 per mile on long runs (like 200-300 miles) I thought I was doing ok. I'm hoping the $$ has kept pace with inflation. I have a little cushion now, and I'm thinking running under my own authority would be a good deal. Any one doing this up this way can give me some solid info?

A bad day for me in a van is $1.50/mile, usually closer to $3.

Cool, thank you. I actually just pulled the trigger on the DOT/MC registration today. I spent a couple of days with a local courier last month..........390 miles for $120 my end. I was not liking that too much. I spoke with another guy who I ran for back in the day, he needs me to have a MC #, and I always wanted to do it so I went for it. Now I guess I have to find a couple of other brokers besides him.
